WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Center for American Entrepreneurship (CAE) is carefully monitoring circumstances surrounding the failure of Silicon Valley Bank (SVP) and the potential implications for the nation’s startup ecosystem. While SVB’s shareholders and other investors should bear the consequences of the bank’s failure, CAE urges policymakers and regulators to take all necessary steps to ensure the continued viability of the new and small businesses impacted by the crisis and the tens of thousands of employees who drive our nation’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Repeated research has demonstrated the critical importance of startups to innovation, economic growth, job creation, and opportunity expansion, and, therefore, resolution of SVB must be accomplished in ways that protect America’s vital innovation economy.
